Why bother making your own salad dressing at college or university?
Because all the cool kids are doing it…right? Oops, hang on, that’s why people do things in high school.
We’re talking about college, where being bold and doing things differently is often better than following the herd.
Like making your own vinaigrette for your salad! It’s today’s mission, should you choose to accept it.
What You Need
Four ingredients, a bowl and a whisk. That’s it!
Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Balsamic vinegar, Dijon mustard and Maple Syrup (the real stuff…the fake stuff makes it taste awful). You’ll also want to add a pinch of salt and pepper. So “technically” it’s six ingredients.
Now I’m 92.2% sure these four main ingredients never resided in my kitchen cupboards at university. But I was a fool for not having them.
This Maple Balsamic Vinaigrette would have been pure GOLD the time I made dinner for that girl I liked in my Plate Tectonics class.
Sadly, I used a cheap store-bought salad dressing instead.
And when I poured it on the salad I could see her thoughts in her eyes. They said…
“He’s no different at all…he’s…he’s…just-like-ALL-the-rest”. [Sniffle]
When Friends Ask Why
There’s plenty good reason for making this salad dressing besides just preparing it for a date. It makes a healthy salad taste amazing!
And if your friends see you whisking this salad dressing up and ask why you bother, you say “I’m ditching the pizza and ramen routine man.”
Actually, I don’t know why you’d say that or why I even wrote it because if someone decides to order pizza at that very moment…yeah, you’re not getting a piece.
Alright that’s a lame response. How’s this instead?
Dip a lettuce leaf.
And ask if they’d like to taste it? Yeah that’s better (don’t worry, it’s delicious)!
Be prepared to see their eyes light up! And when they ask how you MADE it, be sure to look straight into their twinkling eyes, take a LONG pause (adds good drama to the situation) and answer…
“It’s very simple my friends…IF…(raise one eyebrow…hold it)…..you’re bold enough to try.”
