Best For: Grill masters who prefer Teriyaki Beef over Teriyaki Chicken.
As incredible as grilled kebabs taste, getting everything on the skewer is a pain…literally…I’m always getting poked in the finger by the skewers.
It also takes…a…long…time.
But why skewer it all if you don’t have to?
When I’m hungry, and want to eat NOW, I go minimalist on the skewering.
Each piece of marinated goodness gets threaded on skewers while the bite-sized veggies go into a grilling basket to be tossed with olive oil.
Sear the sticks of steak on one side of the grill and slightly char the healthy veggies in the basket on the other side.
And, when you’re not tossing and turning the food, grab yourself a cold one because your grilled veggies and barbecued skewers will be ready before you know it!

Ingredients
1/4 cup teriyaki sauce (sometimes called teriyaki marinade)
1 Tbsp. tomato paste
2 tsp. olive oil (or use vegetable oil)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 1/2 tsp. dried oregano
1/4 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
8 oz. (226 g) sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
1 small bell pepper, cut into 1-inch pieces
1 small zucchini, cut into 1-inch pieces
1/2 onion, cut into 1-inch pieces
Fresh pineapple (optional) cut into 1-inch pieces
Steps
To make the marinade, whisk the teriyaki sauce with the tomato paste, olive oil, garlic, oregano and black pepper in a square baking dish. Add the beef to the baking dish and then coat each piece of beef with the marinade. Let the beef absorb all those glorious teriyaki flavors for at least an hour – overnight is be even better!
To skewer, thread the marinated beef, vegetables and pineapple onto wooden or metal skewers – alternate them so they look nice : )
– OR –
Thread the marinated meat onto skewers and put the veggies and pineapple in a grilling basket. Toss the vegetables and pineapple with 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Season with salt and pepper, then toss the veg and pineapple mix again.
To cook, preheat your grill over high heat. Grill kebabs for 10 to 15 minutes. Turn the skewers every so often to sear all sides of the beef on the outside until it is cooked how you like it on the inside. Toss and grill the vegetables in the basket for until the edges of the veggies are charred around the edges and the pineapple looks like it is begging you to eat it!
