A YouTube video says using mayo will create the “best grilled cheese you’ll ever make.” Bold statement. But is it true for you? Let’s find out!
There’s comfort and familiarity in a grilled cheese. Crispy edges, melted center—simple, delicious.
But here’s a small switch you might not have tried: Use mayo instead of butter.
Yep, spread it on the outside of the bread before placing it on a non-stick skillet set over low heat. No oil or butter on the pan required.
🤔Why Try This?
Mayo browns slower than butter, which can make it easier to get that golden crust without burning. Same crisp. Different route.

That said, to me it has a slightly different taste.
Try it and see what you think. Maybe it becomes your go-to. Maybe not. Either way—you get grilled cheese out of the deal. 😋
Bonus: I tried it on camera for a Should I Cook It? Short – if you want to compare notes.
