Start the day with a burst of energy with this fresh Superfood Smoothie.
A strange feeling came over me as I drank this green smoothie concoction before lacing my shoes and slipping out the door for a 5:30 am run. As it went down, I felt like I was giving my body a shot of healthy adrenaline!
Turn Your Smoothies Green
Before now, I stayed away from adding green leafy vegetables to my smoothies. I didn’t think a smoothie made with kale and spinach would taste good – now I’m a believer!
There’s something to be said about drinking spinach and kale first thing in the morning. It feels incredibly healthy! Although, at 5:30 a.m. this smoothie looked as appetizing as munching on raw Brussels sprouts for breakfast. Thankfully it tastes better than a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice and goes down easy.
In one glass you get the therapeutic immune boosting benefits of fresh ginger while the kale and spinach provide instant veggie victory for the day!
The frozen spinach I purchased came in these convenient frozen nuggets. Perfect for smoothies and hard as a frickin’ rock. I wasn’t sure if my immersion blender could handle the task of blending it but as always I should have never doubted its abilities.
